Why, oh why, could I not be a single gal in the 1980's?

Before the days of Match.com and eHarmony, the best way to get out there and meet new people was to get all dressed up, or dressed down, sit in an uncomfortable chair, and record a message hundreds of singles would browse through.  Hopefully, you've said something to make that special gal/guy hit the pause button on the VCR remote.  (A VCR, for the younger crowd, is that thing we used to have to play taped before the days of DVD's and Blu-rays.  And Netflix.  And Hulu...)
