In a recent trip to the Twin Cities, I made a stop at what the sign on the front of the building claimed was the "World's Largest Soda Shop." So, did it live up to its claim?

Located in a large blue building in Spring Lake Park, just north of Minneapolis, is Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop, a must-visit for both soda and candy lovers in Minnesota.

An Impressive Soda Selection

Upon walking into the store, you'll immediately notice their enormous selection of soda. I don’t know how many soda brands there are in the United States, but I’d be willing to bet most of them can be found here.

Everything from novelty sodas to classics like root beer can all be found on their many shelves, filled with glass soda bottles from floor to ceiling.

Pricing and Unique Flavors

The soda is sold in individual bottles and averages about $3.50 per bottle. You can grab a cardboard 6-pack carrier to collect your favorites, and as a bonus, you’ll get a free bottle when you buy five.

Flavors of soda include everything from orange cream and other traditional flavors to wild ones like bacon and hot dog water. They even have a selection of foreign sodas, including strawberry and peach-flavored Coca-Cola sold in Asia.

More Than Just Soda

Beyond the soda selection, the store also lives up to its name as a candy shop. They have a wide selection of current and nostalgic candies from around the world.

They also feature a candy buffet. For $5, you can fill up a container (a very small box) with any candy available in the buffet.

Soda Fountain and Factory Fun

Along with the store, the building also has an old-school soda fountain serving up a selection of drinks, and they serve hand-scooped ice cream as well.

The building also serves as a factory for Grandpa Joe’s in-house brand of soda. There’s a viewing area where visitors can watch the soda being bottled, adding a unique touch to this Twin Cities gem.

LOOK: 35 Vintage Cereals That Perfectly Captured Pop Culture Moments

Movies and TV shows have always found ways to partner with cereal companies as part of their promotion strategy. While some may have come up with a giveaway in boxes, others went big by having their own cereal connected to the movie or TV show title. Here are vintage cereals that were used to promote some of pop culture's biggest moments (and some you probably forgot about).
