Annual Rose Tipping Event At Duluth’s Rose Garden Scheduled
It's another one of those sure signs that fall is definitely here in the Twin Ports and winter can't be far behind; the annual Rose Tipping Event at the Duluth Rose Garden has been announced.
The event for 2021 will happen Saturday, October 23 from 9:00 AM until 12 Noon. Open to the community, the City of Duluth invites anyone who has an interest to stop by, participate, and take part in the productive fun.
So what exactly goes on at a rose tipping event? You don't need to have any prior experience - at least not for this community event. Expert rose tippers will be on hand to teach all volunteers the Minnesota Tip Method - a process that protects roses from the harsh conditions of a typical Duluth winter. Essentially, the rose bush is dug out of the ground, tipped, and re-buried back in to the earth, covered with soil to prevent it from the upcoming cold weather.
Interested volunteers are asked to arrive at the Duluth Rose Garden - located between 12th and 13th Avenue East on London Road, prior to the 9:00 AM start. While the event is open to anyone to take part (think groups, families, and organizations, too), any children taking part should be at least 14 years of age or older, and accompanied by an adult.
Although we've had a seasonal fall so far, you'll still be spending a fair amount of time outside. Additionally, the temperatures are expected to turn a little colder by the end of the week. You should dress warm for the weather. You really don't need to bring anything else. All tools and supplies will be provided - including work gloves.
While you can just show up the morning of the event, organizers are asking volunteers to pre-register so that they can get an idea of how many people to expect. Click here. This would also be the place to look for any last-minute information or updates.
