Comedian Bert Kreischer ‘Lucky’ To Be Alive After Two Scary Bus Incidents In Minnesota Over The Weekend
This last weekend wasn't kind to big-name comedians and plans that involved Minnesota.
The weekend snowstorm forced Jeff Foxworthy to postpone his show at Treasure Island in Welch, MN, but that's by far the milder of the two stories about comedians and Minnesota from over the weekend.
Bert Kreischer was on his way through Minnesota yesterday on the way from Fargo to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on his "Permission to Party" Tour, when a pair of bus-related incidents shook Bert and his team on his tour bus. Bert says he is "lucky to be alive" after the pair of incidents.
In the first incident, a tire came off the rim on his tour bus on Interstate 94 while traveling at highway speeds somewhere east of Moorhead, MN. It was about an hour after leaving Fargo, which, by my math, puts him somewhere just shy of Fergus Falls, MN.

The bus driver was thankfully able to get the bus safely to the side of the road in the overnight hours of early Sunday morning, which is when Bert shared what happened with his fans via Instagram.
In a livestream, Bert showed the scene where one of the bus's front tires blew out and came off the rim. The video (which includes some foul language) explains that he and his crew were watching "Dr. No" on the bus when the tire blew out.
Bert and one of his travel partners, Ian, showed off the snowy scene as they tried to figure out whether to get a hotel or to get back on the road when they got the tire situation taken care of.
Kreischer later explained in his Instagram story that they made the decision to "ditch the bus" and split his crew up into "crew buses" to continue the journey through Minnesota and to their Iowa destination.
The bus driver stayed behind, hearing a popping noise coming from the roof, when the bus quickly filled with smoke and became engulfed in flames. The driver got out safely, but the bus was a total loss.
The bus driver said that within just a few seconds, the whole front of the bus was in flames. While that is scary, Kreischer found a silver lining in the whole situation.
Bert commented on a photo of the burnt bus, saying "God works in mysterious ways", noting in his Instagram story that had they decided to stay with the bus, he and his crew would have likely died being trapped by the quickly spreading blaze, unable to get out from the back of the bus where they would have been sleeping.
He called the tire blowout "a blessing", pointing to the chance that had they not had to stop for the blowout, they all could have been on the bus on the highway when whatever sparked the blaze could have occurred.

In a separate Instagram story, Bert and some of his crew explained they were all safe, but all of the stuff left behind the bus was gone. They joked about a lot of meat and cheese on the bus that was in the fire, but Bert's clothing was also lost in the fire.
Before his show in Iowa, Kreischer showed off some threads he picked up at a Dick's Sporting Goods to make up for at least a little of what was lost in the fire aboard his bus.
Despite the fire, Bert says he is lucky, and his tour is continuing as planned.
