It’s going to be a little while before we see the first trailer for Deadpool 2. In the meantime, if you’ve already breezed through the Merc With the Mouth’s special holiday issue of Good Housekeeping (no, seriously; it’s a thing), then you’re probably itching for more Deadpool content. Thankfully, there’s a pretty awesome new photo from the set of the upcoming sequel. And if you’re a comic book fan, you’ll particularly appreciate this one.

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld dropped by the set of Deadpool 2, where he got to meet the flesh-and-blood iteration of another one of his creations: Cable. Liefeld shared this cool pic on Instagram, which shows the comic book author and artist hanging out with Josh Brolin:

As you can see, Liefeld has nothing but effusive praise for Brolin and his portrayal of Cable, the latest mutant addition to Deadpool’s corner of the X-Men movie universe. Liefeld says Brolin “could not be more perfect” for the part, and hails his “commitment” to the mutant character that first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #201 back in 1986. He was originally created by Chris Claremont, but it was Liefeld — along with writer Louise Simonson — who gave Cable his adult identity, re-introducing him in a 1990 issue of The New Mutants.

Cable is also known as Nathan Summers, the child of Scott Summers and a clone of Jean Grey. Transported back from a future alternate timeline, Cable was given a solo series before teaming up with Deadpool in Cable & Deadpool and eventually joining X-Force. (Brolin has signed on for three films in the X-Men universe, including Deadpool 2 and the X-Force movie.)

Deadpool 2 also stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller and Brianna Hildebrand, and hits theaters on June 1, 2018.
