New Coffee Shop Coming To Downtown Duluth Shares Big Update Ahead Of Opening
Almost a year ago, we learned that a new, locally-owned coffee shop would be opening in Downtown Duluth. If you've been wondering what's going on with the new coffee destination, we just got a new update from the business.
If you aren't familiar with what's coming to Downtown Duluth, a coffee shop called Underwood Coffee has been preparing to open on West 1st Street in the Board of Trade Building.
The new coffee shop is an expansion of Jake Underwood's current business, a coffee roasting company operating in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth. Underwood's coffee can be found at several locations around the country, including a number of Twin Ports area locations.
Some of those local places you can get Underwood Coffee's coffee include Whole Foods Co-Op, Duluth Grill, Love Creamery, Goat Hill Marketplace, Blue Heron Trading Company, Northern Waters Smokehaus, and 190 Coffee and Tea.

Underwood calls the new cafe a "lifelong dream" on his company website. And that dream is getting closer to being realized.
When plans for the new Underwood Coffee shop in Downtown Duluth were announced, Jake announced he hoped to open sometime in the summer of 2025. As tends to happen with a lot of projects of this nature, that process got slowed down.
In a new social media update, Jake shared that after a pause, construction of the space has resumed, his coffee equipment has been ordered, and things look to be on track for opening in the near future.
While an exact opening date has not yet been set, he expects to be open sometime in late April or early May of this year.

In the meantime, here's a look at some of the best-rated, locally-owned coffee shops you can find elsewhere in Northern Minnesota.
