Well this is certainly nothing to smile about: Dua Lipa's been forced to cancel a handful of performances at forthcoming Bruno Mars concerts because of painful dental surgery.

Lipa, who first joined Mars on tour at a September 2017 show in Charlotte, North Carolina, tweeted her apologies Wednesday (March 14) to fans who've been eager to see her on the road.

“I'm so sorry to have to cancel some of my support shows with @brunomars. I’ve been performing with an awful pain due to my wisdom teeth and as advised by my dentist and oral surgeon I have had to have them imminently removed,” she wrote. “I have been enjoying this tour so much and i’m so upset that life has gotten in the way but hopefully i’ll have a speedy recovery and make it back as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding xx."

And fans did seem to be mostly understanding — one wrote "get better love, don’t push yourself too hard, i love u," while another noted "get well soon baby, we love you so much and your health comes first always!!!"

Lipa also shared a video in which she tends to her swollen cheeks with an ice pack, just in case fans need any convincing that she's in bad shape.

Mars' 24K Magic World Tour, his third headlining concert series, kicked off in Belgium just about a year ago and will wrap up in October with a performance at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
