FBI Warning Not to Make, Buy or Sell Bogus COVID-19 Vaccine Cards
We've already got the warning about sharing photos of your COVID-19 vaccination card, but now the FBI is warning the public not to make or buy fake ones.
Many people are trying to get their COVID-19 vaccine in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and of course people are trying to take advantage of the situation by doing shady things, like selling vaccination record cards and encouraging the buyer to print fake cards at home. I'm not sure why someone would need to do this? Maybe because they want to show they got one, with no intention for whatever reason of actually getting one. Who knows, people are strange.
The FBI is warning that if you enter places like schools, mass transit, workplaces, gyms, etc…and misrepresent that you have the vaccine, not only are you putting yourself and others at risk, but you might be breaking the law that could "be punishable under Title 18 United States Code, Section 1017, and other applicable laws."
The FBI is encouraging businesses to stick with the CDC social distancing guidelines and continue to use personal protective equipment because of the risk of someone using a phony vaccination record card. The FBI didn't say if anyone has actually been caught doing this yet, but I'm sure sooner or later someone will try this and be caught.
Also, if businesses start requiring proof of vaccination to enter or participate, and you give false information, you could be considered to be trespassing and charged with a crime.
