The State of Minnesota announced that it will be offering free COVID-19 tests around the state this weekend, including in Duluth.

The free test is for any Minnesotan, and especially for anyone who is ill or have been directly exposed to a know COVID-19 case. No doctor's note is needed and no appointments are necessary.

The testing in Duluth will happen at the Duluth Armory located at 4015 Airpark Blvd. from Saturday, May 23rd, through Monday, May 25th from 10 AM - 5 PM, or until supplies run out.

The tests are being administered by the Minnesota National Guard and local public health employees. They hope to do about 6,000 tests over the weekend at the six sites located around the state.

“Testing, tracing, and isolating are the best tools we have to understand the impact of the pandemic on our communities and to contain it, so we can continue safely navigating this pandemic,” said Governor Tim Walz in a press release. “I am grateful the Minnesota National Guard is helping with this important effort.”

Results are expected within 48 hours after the test is given and patients will be contacted by phone.

All sites are enforcing social distancing guidelines and masks must be worn at the testing locations.
