Duluth's Glensheen Mansion Holiday Tours Up For National Award

A Duluth landmark and popular holiday destination is up for a big national award!

Glensheen Mansion and its beautiful holiday tours is the only Minnesota entry among the finalists in the running for USA Today's Reader's Choice 10 Best Holiday Historic Home Tours.

The 10 finalists were recently announced, with voting now underway to name the best of the best when it comes to holiday tours at historic estates around the country.

The description USA Today provided for Glensheen highlights the 27,000-square-foot estate on Lake Superior with its Christmas candlelight tours "with the whole mansion enchanted by the glow of illuminated Christmas trees".

The tours, which run from the end of November through early January this season, just announced their 2024 options. From their classic tours to candlelight tours, they're a memorable adventure that allows you to see the mansion fully decked out with several trees and other holiday decor all around the building.

If you've never been on one of these tours, they are truly like walking into a classic piece of Christmas art, with a new scene that looks like it is from a painting or postcard. You can learn more about these tours and see photos here.

Voting is open now through Monday, December 2, when voting will wrap up at 11 am Central Time. USA Today says they will announce the results of the vote on Friday, December 6. You can vote once per day on their voting page.

Glensheen needs your help, though! While voting just recently got underway, early results have the mansion lagging behind the leaders in early voting. As of the time this article was written, Glensheen was behind on the leaderboard.

Glensheen does have some tough competition, however. Among the other houses in the running are Graceland (yep, that Graceland), the house from the movie "A Christmas Story", and the historic Ford House of the Ford automotive family fame.
