GoFundMe Names This Minnesota City Top 10 Most Generous

GoFundMe has released its year-end report for 2023 and one Minnesota city is named in its Top 10 most generous cities.

GoFundMe is the most popular platform for crowd-sourcing donations for individuals, families, non-profits, and communities for those times when a little, or a lot, of help is needed, according the GoFundMe, more than 30 million people gave and received some help during 2023.

How Much Was Donated in 2023?

One donation is made per second on the platform, with $50 being the most common donation amount, and people must love kicking off the year with generosity, because January 2nd, 2023 was the most generous day of the previous year.

Minnesota does not make the list of most generous states, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts top that list, but Minneapolis was named in their top 10 most generous cities in America:

According to GoFundMe, this list was compiled using data from the "Number of donations per capita, population >50,000."

Some of the top Minneapolis fundraisers over 2023 included helping a soccer club replace gear after their trailer was stolen, helping raise money for an inner city dance club travel to a competition in Las Vegas, and helping a small business that resells plus size clothes.

Other stats shared by GoFundMe, users raised $106 million for natural disaster relief in 2023, there were 221,000 fundraisers started to help animals in 2023, and Taylor Swift fans used her favorite number 13 to more than double the amount of $13 donations in 2023.
