Grandma’s Marathon Collects Gently Worn Shoes For The Young Athletes Foundation
Clean out your closet now while you support Sneakers4Funds! It is in full swing now through August 3 and there are lots of convenient drop off locations in the Northland and on marathon weekend.
Your old shoes may just be old shoes to you, but to someone in need, they are a treasure. They will be used to generate funds for the Young Athletes Foundation, but they also help micro-enterprises in developing countries.
Grandma's Marathon has partnered with Toyota to collect the sneakers in the bed of a Toyota Tundra truck. During marathon weekend the truck will be in Pioneer Hall at the DECC from 4-8p on Thursday, June 15 and on Friday, the 16th from 10a-9p. Or if you're bringing the kids to the Whipper Snapper Races at Bayfront Festival Park, there will be a collection site there from 12-2p. That's a great way to teach the kids about donating to others. Other collections sites around the Northland are our local Toyota dealerships. Kari Toyota in Superior, Kolar Toyota in Duluth, Iron Trail Toyota in Virginia and Ashland Toyota in Ashland.
They have set a lofty goal to collect 2,600 pairs, can you help? You've been meaning to clean out your closets anyhow, why not get that warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that the shoes you haven't worn that often may help another athlete reach their potential goal.
