Three Grammy-Nominated Acts Teaming Up For One ‘Iconic’ Night At 2026 Minnesota State Fair
While I appreciate music across genres and eras, the lineup that had been announced for the 2026 Minnesota State Fair to this point was certainly for a bit of an older audience.
Don't get me wrong, the music of Rod Stewart or Bonnie Raitt still holds up, and I have a great appreciation for it. That said, there's still a lot of room for shows that appeal to different audiences.
The good news is that there are still plenty of nights to announce shows for at the 2026 Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - and the newest announcement does indeed expand the overall appeal of this year's roster of shows, and it might be the one I am most excited for yet.
The fair's organizers just announced the addition of not one, but THREE acts that are all coming together for one night of 'iconic' live music during the final weekend of the fair.
TLC and Salt-N-Pepa are hitting the road this year, bringing En Vogue with them on their "It's Iconic Tour", which includes dates from August of this year through October. Their show at the Minnesota State Fair is right in the middle of that tour, on September 5, 2026. Sure, these acts all hit their peak in the 1990s, but their music by far has a broader appeal to younger audiences.
TLC splashed onto the scene in the early 1990s with songs like "Baby Baby Baby", "What About Your Friends", and "Creep". By mid-decade, they hit a new level of stardom with hits that included "Waterfalls" and "No Scrubs", collecting a total of 5 Grammy Award wins on more than a dozen nominations.
Salt-N-Pepa's legacy dates back a little further, making music as early as the mid-1980s, with hits like "Push It" from 1987 and subsequent hits into the 1990s like "Let's Talk About Sex", "Shoop", and "Whatta Man" - which happened to be a song with En Vogue. Salt-N-Pepa has a pair of Grammy Award wins and 6 total nominations.
En Vogue rose to fame in the early 1990s, with hits like "Hold On", "Free Your Mind", "Don't Let Go (Love)", and "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" among the biggest of their hits. They had 7 Grammy Award nominations, along with several other nominations and wins in the Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards.
This show at the Minnesota State Fair will be on Saturday, September 5, 2026, with music starting at 7 pm. Tickets go on sale on March 26 at 10 am via the Minnesota State Fair website.
