Recently, electropop star Halsey called out Iggy Azalea for her perceived appropriation of Black culture. Now, Iggy's responded to Halsey's comments in a new interview on Australian radio show Smallzy's SurgeryIggy finds it a bit strange that Halsey would name her even though the singer wasn't asked a question about her music.

"It's a bit weird to bring someone up in an interview that you weren't asked about," Iggy tells the host of Smallzy's Surgery. To contextualize the seeming randomness of Halsey's comment, Iggy compares Halsey's actions to her theoretically dissing Janet Jackson in a conversation without being asked about her.

Iggy says her time in the spotlight has taught her a thing or two about being judged incorrectly by people she doesn't know. With that in mind, she opts not to say too much about Halsey.

"To me, because I'm a famous person and I know a lot of the time people have opinions and they're not always accurate, I really try very hard not to give my personal opinions about people that I don't know," Iggy says. "And I don't know her, I've never met her."

Halsey made her comments about Iggy in an interview with U.K.-based publication The Guardian last week. "She had a complete disregard for Black culture. Fucking moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me," Halsey said at the time.

For her part, Iggy says she hopes Halsey, who recently had PartyNextDoor join her world tour, can learn to empathize with celebrities such as herself rather than continue her perceived judging.

"I thought it was a bit of a strange thing to throw that out there, but she's young and I hope she learns maybe to be a bit less judgmental when she's kind of in the same shoes," Iggy says. "I'm sure she's getting judged all the time as well by people who don't really know her. So I think maybe it'd be good for her to try to be a little more empathetic to other people that are in the same situation."
