Iggy Azalea has had a rough year. That's something that becomes clear when you remember the leaking of her "Switch" video and the continued rescheduling of the release date for her sophomore album. Now, she's admitting that her career wasn't in a great place when she created "Savior," a new Quavo-assisted single that could push her back in the right direction.

Speaking with the folks at iHeartRadio, Iggy says her new song carries a more personal feel than fans are used to, and that her rap career wasn't unfolding in the way she expected it to when she made the track. She was also dealing with a fractured romance.

"I’d had a big breakup, and my career wasn’t going well,” she says in the new interview. “And I sort of found myself in this space where everything that I was used to, just my day-to-day routine, had abruptly stopped."

She continues, “And I just didn’t know how to get my life back together, or what my life looked like with all of these changes, and how to get a routine going again, and just how to get my happiness back and feeling normal. So that was the space that I was in when I wrote this song.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Iggy admits that she's afraid of getting to excited about her newest single. "I feel like people are being really supportive lately, more than I'm used to" she says. "Sometimes when things are going so good, I get worried that I'll like, think they're gonna go too good, and then I'm gonna disappoint myself."

Iggy's sophomore album is set to be called Surviving The Summer. It doesn't yet have a release date.
