The writers at Thrillist came up with the most hippie town in each of the 50 states. Guess which town they named for Minnesota?

The term 'hippie' was crowned in the 1960's and according to the Webster dictionary a hippie is usually a young person who rejects established social customs (such as by dressing in an unusual way or living in a commune) and who opposes violence and war. In today's society they have essentially transformed into hipsters. Thrillist says every state has their "eclectic hippie haven".

Thillist has dubbed Duluth the hippiest town in Minnesota. I would have the strong argument of selecting Uptown Minneapolis, but I understand that is only part of the city. Here's what they had to say about the hippie town.

Duluth - The place you look at in the winter weather reports and say “Man, at least I’m not THERE” is actually a delightful small city on the shores of Lake Superior. Its proximity to the water -- and all the great camping, hiking, and general outdoorsy-ness that come with it -- make this a top destination for hippie recreation. Duluth’s vibe is probably best represented by the bands that have come out of there, most notably the prolific jam band Trampled by Turtles and the more-rock-ish but still hippie Cloud Cult.

Okay, so there's some truth about what they had to say. Doesn't mean you have to agree though. Let me know in the comments below if you think Duluth is the most hippie town in Minnesota?
