What Stanley's Are Included in the Recall?
Stanley has announced a recall of about 2.6 million travel mugs due to a safety issue. The recall involves Switchback and Trigger Action mugs. These mugs have lid threads that may shrink when exposed to heat, causing the lid to detach and potentially spill hot liquid. This poses a burn risk to users.
The affected mugs come in three sizes: 12 oz., 16 oz., and 20 oz., and were sold in several colors. Each mug has a product identification number printed on the bottom. Affected mugs were sold at major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Amazon, as well as other stores, from June 2016 through December 2024.
How Many Accidents Have Been Reported?
Stanley has received reports of 91 incidents globally. This includes 16 incidents in the United States, with 38 reported injuries. Eleven people required medical attention due to burns caused by the mugs' lids detaching during use.
What Do I Do If I Own This Stanley?
If you own one of these mugs, stop using it immediately. Stanley is offering free replacement lids to fix the issue. To request a new lid, you can visit their recall site or contact their customer service at 866-792-5445.
To stay safe, be cautious when using any recalled products. Follow the instructions for repairs or replacements to avoid risks. For more details about this or other recalls, visit Stanley’s website or the CPSC page.
