
Two Women Killed in Christmas Eve Crash in Southern Minnesota
Pipestone, MN (MinnesotaNow) - The Minnesota State Patrol responded to a tragic incident on the afternoon of Christmas Eve.
Two women were killed in a collision involving a semi-truck at an intersection along a highway in southwestern Minnesota. The State Patrol says the fatal crash occurred just before 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the junction of Highway 75 and a rural road near the town of Trosky, about five miles south of Pipestone.
It Appears the Driver of the Truck Had the Right of Way
The State Patrol crash report indicates the victims were in a minivan traveling west on the rural road when it collided with a semi-truck traveling north on Highway 75.
Victims Identified by State Patrol
The driver of the minivan, 71-year-old Patricia Struiksma of Chandler, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 69-year-old Donna Vanthoff of Leota, was transported to the hospital in Pipestone, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the truck was not hurt. He was identified as 53-year-old Chad Walters of Pipestone.

The State Patrol says all three people involved in the deadly collision were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not involved.
