Minnesota is well known as 'The Land Of 10,000 Lakes', so there is certainly an abundance of choices when it comes to choosing a great place for some fun and relaxing outdoor recreation.
There are several factors to consider when choosing a lake to visit, including lifestyle preferences, the size of the lake, proximity to amenities, water temperature, whether there is a beach or not, and more.
For me, while all those factors certainly play a role, one thing I check before I venture out onto the water is how clean the lake is. I think most people would agree that even if a lake had an amazing beach and other great features, if the water was unhealthy, you'd prefer to avoid it.
While Minnesota has the luxury of many clean lakes, a recent study was done to highlight 14 clean, clear lakes in America, and one lake in the state stood out and made the list.

The Best Clean & Clear Lakes In America
Boutique Adventurer decided to highlight 14 "beautiful, clear lakes in the United States", which would also make a nice 'must-visit' list for outdoor enthusiasts.
The one Minnesota lake to make the list was Deer Lake, located in Deer River in Itasca County, which they noted stays clean because the water comes primarily from rainfall, underground, and surface springs.
Deer Lake is about 5 miles long, 1.5 miles wide, 121 feet deep, and filled with many rock piles and reefs that boost the lake’s scenery but could pose a danger for boaters unfamiliar with the lake.
Boutique Adventurer was also impressed by how the lake can change colors during the summer. Visitors to Deer Lake on a bright summer day can witness the body of water going from crystal blue to red, purple, orange, and pink as the sun goes down.
