Duluth + Superior Residents Startled By Surprise Fireworks At Bentleyville

Last night I was watching TV on the couch when I heard some rumbling. It sounded like thunder. My wife and I both looked at each other with a puzzled look. I pulled up the radar and didn't see any weather. Also, thunder doesn't happen in mid-November typically in the Northland. Was the 148th doing night training? What was that noise?

It didn't last long. By the time I got outside to take a look, the noise was gone. I wasn't the only one confused. I saw a bunch of posts on local Facebook groups asking what the noise was.

Fireworks Were For A Private Concert At Bentleyville

It ended up being a fireworks display over the Duluth Harbor for a privately funded Concert at Bentleyville featuring artist Gavin DeGraw. Dan Hanger from Fox 21 Online shared the video:

Allies Charities Of Minnesota Convention And Expo

It was part of the Allies Charities of Minnesota Convention and Expo that took place this Wednesday and Thursday at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. Allied Charities of Minnesota is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization that represents charities and lawful gambling in the state of Minnesota.

Many were surprised by the fireworks, and some complained that there was no notice for people with PTSD or people who have pets.

Will Bentleyville Have Fireworks For The Public?

For people who want to enjoy fireworks at Bentleyville, you'll have to wait until closing night. Each year, they wrap up the season with a fireworks display. This year it will take place on December 27th for the last night of the season.
