Duluth Utility Work To Force Detours On Portion Of E. Superior Street + Lakewalk
As fall approaches, the City of Duluth continues to get utility work done throughout the area, causing temporary road closures and detours.
Recently, the city announced that utility operations crews would be performing in-ground utility repair on a water main under a section of Grand Avenue. That week-long project was scheduled to begin the morning of Wednesday, September 6, causing a temporary closure of the I-35 Northbound on-ramp, as well as a closure of a section of one eastbound lane of Grand Avenue.
On Friday, they announced a new project. According to the City, utility operations crews will be performing in-ground repair on a water main near the intersection of East Superior Street and 60th Avenue E.
The work is expected to start on the morning of Monday, September 11 and they anticipate it'll last approximately one week, as long as the weather cooperates.
The repair will cause a temporary closure on East Superior Street and on the parallel section of the Lakewalk. Signs will be posted and a detour route has been established.
Below is a map of the are, which was provided by the City. The affected area is in red and the detour route in green.
The City of Duluth again thanks residents for their patience while the work is conducted. Whenever road construction projects are taking place in the Northland, motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time to reach their destination.
It's also important for all motorists to remain attentive whenever they are traveling, being sure to drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule-permitting and subject to change.
