Did you know that the North Shore Scenic Drive is one of the highest-rated attractions in Minnesota? It's right up there with the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Mall of America. Who knew a stretch of highway got reviews, but there are plenty of them online for the North Shore Scenic Drive.

The North Shore Scenic Drive is an asphalt highway that hugs the shores of Lake Superior from Duluth all the way to Grand Portage. It's 154 miles long, and it's known for its rugged coastline, waterfalls, small towns and shops, and views of Lake Superior.

A lot of people visit the North Shore, especially during the fall colors, for the drive. Most reviews are very positive, but I saw some bad reviews that, of course, I needed to check out.

'If I Wanted To See Trees, I Could Have Stayed Home.'

One user on TripAdvisor commented that if they wanted to see trees, they would have just stayed home. They complained that they didn't get to see much of the lake and all there is up there is trees. Did you ever think of pulling over the car at a rest stop and looking out?

'Not Worth The Time And Gas.'

A tourist from New Jersey called it a waste of time and gas. "We do not understand what others have seen as so great about this drive." Gooseberry Falls were OK, but not enough water flow.

This reminds me of a funny story a park ranger told me a few years ago. We were experiencing a drought, and no water was running at the falls. A tourist asked him to turn the water on for them.

'Skip This And Stay On Canal Street.'

Robby wasn't a fan of the scenic drive, but it sounds like he didn't even get out of Duluth and must have been lost. And Robby, there is no Canal Street. It's Canal Park.  I think you need some help with maps.

'They Should Cut Down The Trees'

Florence was upset that her views of Lake Superior were blocked by trees. She suggested that we "cut the tops off" or remove the trees altogether.

Don't Listen To The Negative Nellies

The North Shore Scenic Drive is 100% worth the time and money to visit. It's the most beautiful place in Minnesota, and it should definitely be on your bucket list to visit.
