It's the first year of a very cool half marathon happening in Minnesota. The 13.1-mile run will bring you through three towns and across one of the most beautiful views in Minnesota.

Organizers of the half marathon have partnered with Essentia Health to bring you the Essentia Health Iron Range Half Marathon. It's taking place on August 17 and features a route that has a lot of cool features.

The race begins at the Mesabi Trail headquarters in Eveleth. The route takes runners then through Gilbert, and then through the woods heading towards Virginia. The highlight for most runners will be the crossing of the Thomas Rukavina Memorial Bridge.

The race crosses Minnesota's tallest bridge.

The bridge is the tallest in Minnesota, as it crosses the Rouchleau Mine Pit which is 204 feet below. The Mesabi trail has its own separate lane where runners can take in the scenery as they make their way into Virginia.

Park At Iron Trail Events Center & Take The Shuttle

There's limited parking at the trailhead where the race begins in Eveleth. Organizers say it's best to park at the Iron Trail Events Center (where the race ends), and take the free shuttles to the starting line.
