A great annual tradition is ready to once again hit the street in downtown Duluth! The Gobble Gallop 5K Run/Walk is back and registration is open now.

I've run every Gobble Gallop, including virtually during the pandemic, and I remember the first one had hundreds of runners and now it's grown to a huge event that involves thousands of runners participating in the 5K, a 1 mile race and a kids event.

All three races will once again run through downtown Duluth. Each event begins and ends near 12 Avenue East, about 150 yards east of the Duluth Running Co., going west on Superior Street on an out-and-back course.

Thanksgiving is November 24 this year and here's the race day schedule:

  • 9:00am-Start of the Gobble Giddy-Up Kid’s 1/4 Mile
  • 9:10am-Start of the Tough Turkey 1 Mile
  • 9:30am-Start of the Gobble Gallop 5K
  • 10:30am-Awards Ceremony

You can get full details on each event and register now through the button below. The final price increase hits on November 11. A portion of proceeds from the Gobble Gallop will go toward Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.

Participants can pick up their race packets at Duluth Running Co., located at 1026 E Superior Street in Duluth. Race packets will be available on Wednesday, November 23rd from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, and Thursday, November 24th from 7:00am to 8:45am.

When it comes to parking on the day of the Gobble Gallop, London Road will be closed from 10th Avenue East to 12th Avenue East and parking will be available in the following locations:

  • Any metered parking spot along Superior Street from 10th Ave. East to 12th Ave East
  • The Duluth Rose Garden

One thing that makes the Gobble Gallop a lot of fun is seeing all the people dressed up in Thanksgiving gear for the event. From turkey hats to full costumes, there's an increasing amount of creativity with the costumes every year.
