Two Killed in Crash With Semi at Rural Minnesota Intersection
Britt, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two Minnesotans lost their lives following a collision with a semi truck in northern Minnesota.
The State Patrol responded to the crash shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday. It involved a semi truck and a sedan at an intersection about 14 miles north of Virginia in St. Louis County.
The state crash report says the sedan, driven by 81-year-old Fernando Navarro Tibayan of Britt, MN, was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Hwy. 53 when it was T-boned by a northbound semi truck.
Tibayan and his passenger, identified as 83-year-old Filipinas Domingo Tibayan of Britt, MN, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver is identified as 65-year-old Thomas Michael Rosik of Marcell, MN. He was taken from the deadly crash scene to a hospital with what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The report says everyone involved in the crash was buckled up. There was snow and ice on the road at the time of the deadly collision.
