Top 2023 Minnesota Vikings Draft Pick Jordan Addison Caught Breaking The Law

Rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison, the top pick of the 2023 NFL Draft for the Minnesota Vikings, got himself into some legal trouble on Thursday morning of this week.

Numerous reports, including from ESPN writer Kevin Seifert, state that Addison was given a citation for going over double the speed limit on a highway in the Twin Cities area on Thursday morning (July 20).

Addison was reportedly cited for speed and reckless driving after an officer with the Minnesota State Patrol reported him going 140 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone just outside of St. Paul.

Twin Cities TV station KSTP reports that a trooper traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 near Dale Street (just west of St. Paul, as seen as the red pin in the map below) witnessed a driver traveling at 140 mph in a 55 mph zone in a Lamborghini Urus at around 3 am Thursday morning.

Kevin Seifert reports that the Minnesota Vikings acknowledged the situation, saying in a statement "We are aware of last night's traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information."

After a traffic stop, the trooper identified the driver as Addison. The 21-year-old rookie wide receiver was not arrested, but was given citations for speeding and reckless driving. The Minnesota State Patrol says they are continuing to investigate.

There is nothing in the initial report that indicates alcohol or drugs were involved.

According to Minnesota statute, motorists stopped for going over 20 mph over the speed limit can face double fines, while those ticketed for traveling over 100 mph can lose their license for a minimum of 6 months.

Addison was drafted #23 overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2023 NFL Draft, and is due at Vikings training camp with other rookies, who are supposed to report on Sunday.
