Lizzo Apologies After Putting Postmates Delivery Employee ‘on Blast’
Lizzo found herself in some hot water after she called out a Postmates delivery girl by name and accused her of stealing her food. On Monday (September 16) the rapper wrote in a since-deleted tweet, “Hey @Postmates this girl Tiffany W. stole my food she lucky I don’t fight no more.”
The food-delivery service asked her to DM them so they could get the issue resolved. "As soon as Lizzo reached out, we looked into the matter and quickly resolved the issue. We apologize to Lizzo for any inconvenience,” a Postmates spokesperson explained to Rolling Stone. However, some of Lizzo's nearly 1 million followers were less than pleased that she called the woman out by name, saying that she probably got the girl fired and put her in harm by revealing her identity.
After deleting the initial message, Lizzo shared an apology on Twitter the following day (September 17).
"I apologize for putting that girl on blast," she wrote. "I understand I have a large following and that there were so many variables that could’ve put her in danger. Imma really be more responsible with my use of social media and check my petty and my pride at the door."
A source familiar with the situation told RS that the Postmates employee waited for five minutes at the designated drop off location and was unable to reach Lizzo, so she moved on with her other deliveries.
