The annual Minnesota Brewers Cup competition and awards ceremony was held at the end of last week, celebrating the incredible beer scene we have in Minnesota and naming the best beers in the state in a number of different categories.

Almost 450 beers from nearly 100 different breweries and brewpubs across Minnesota were part of this year's event.

The competition is a blind taste-test that "showcases the innovation and mastery of craft brewing in our state".

There were a total of 22 different categories in this year's Minnesota Brewers Cup, along with a "Best of Show" category. First, second, and third place awards were presented in each category.

Of that total of 23 different awards that could have been won, 6 different Northland-made beers earned awards, with 4 of them being from Duluth.

Here's a look at the Northland winners and the categories they won in.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
