There are a lot of factors that play into the differences in the economic situations of people living in various places within a state.

This holds true across Minnesota, where some places in the state see median household incomes considerably above the average for the state and even for the country. On the flipside, there are unfortunately a number of places where the opposite is true.

Some might argue that the cost of living in many of these places is considerably lower, but a number of socioeconomic challenges including things as simple as fewer economic opportunities or just a different economic situation in parts of Minnesota lead to such a discrepancy between the places in the state with the highest median income and the places with the lowest.

For a bit of perspective, looking purely at the raw data from the US Federal Reserve says the median household income across the entire country is $80,610. The statewide median household income for all of Minnesota is $90,340, which is higher than the national average.
