For weather nerds like me, this is such an awesome idea!

One of Minnesota's few remaining drive-in movie theaters is planning a double feature this month, screening both the brand-new movie Twisters and the original 1996 film Twister along with a group of real-life storm chasers and weather experts as part of the experience.

How cool is that?!

An organization called the United National Weather Team has coordinated with the Long Drive-In Theater in Long Prairie, Minnesota for a three-night event that will feature showings of both movies and all sorts of other weather and tornado stuff.

What's on the schedule for this multi-night 'Twister' event?

Storm chasers from Minnesota, Ohio, Kansas, and Missouri will be at the event all three nights, available to answer questions and share stories and images from their experiences chasing storms.

In addition, a replica of yellow truck from the original movie will be there one day, and meteorologist Noah Deere, who was an extra in the 2024 movie Twisters will be at all of the showings, too!

Don't remember the yellow truck? Here's a trailer for the original film to refresh your memory. Yep, we've (still) got cows.

When is this event?

The three-night Twister & Twisters event will be Friday, August 16, Saturday, August 17, and Sunday, August 18.

Organizers are encouraging the public to arrive early. Gates will open at 6:30 pm on Friday and Saturday and 7:00 pm on Sunday.
