Minnesota's Funniest, Quirkiest, And Weirdest Township Names

Over the year's you've probably heard of (and even chuckled about) some of the weird or funny town names Minnesota has. Who hasn't heard of places like Fertile or Climax by now?

There are jokes and memes about just those two towns alone, but quirky names of things in Minnesota don't stop there.

While there is likely an innocent or interesting history behind the names of things in Minnesota, there are plenty of names of places that, without context, are downright weird or funny.

Take, for example, my list of weird and funny lake names I put together. Who names a lake "Big Too Much Lake"? Or where did the inspiration come from for Big Dick and Little Dick lakes? It gets even wilder from there!

What about Minnesota's townships, though? Those lesser-known local government units and places where people live that often go unrecognized unless you live there.

While townships don't have some of the elements of cities and towns, many Minnesotans live in or visit them. Don't be fooled, though. Many have fire departments and other things you might think of being reserved for cities & towns.

After growing up in a quirky-named township and visiting or driving through several others over the years, I finally decided it was time to shine a spotlight on these small places with amazing names around Minnesota.
