Minnesota’s Hidden Riches: Unbelievable Lottery Wins You Missed This Summer
The Minnesota State Lottery is sharing some fun stats about winners from this past summer in which millions of dollars were won across the state.
During the months between May and October, the Minnesota State lottery says, "194 scratch and lotto game players hauled in wins from $25,000 up to a $2 million Powerball winner." That's a lot of good summer spending money!
The $2 million Powerball winner happened in September, the winning ticket was sold in Avon, "Saturday's winning Powerball numbers were 25, 38, 42, 66, 67, and the Powerball 19. Those lucky numbers produced $1 million winners in New York and North Carolina and a $2 million winner in Minnesota, thanks to the Power Play feature."
Gopher 5, the state's daily lottery game with drawings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday gave away millions during the summer with two winners splitting a $685,499 jackpot in October and two $500,000+ jackpot winners, one of which was in Cloquet.
$500,000 in winnings was collected by scratch ticket players in Plymouth, Waseca, and St. Louis Park, and one player claimed a $300,000 jackpot playing Crazy Cash in September.
How Many Total Winners?
In total, 10 winners claimed $200,000 - $300,000, 34 players won between $100,000 - $200,000, $50,000 - $100,000 prizes were won by 88 winners, and 53 people won between $25,000 - $50,000.
Are There Any Unclaimed Prizes?
Currently, there are several unclaimed prizes with the Minnesota State Lottery, including a $130,000 Gopher 5 jackpot from April, a few North 5 prizes over $50,000, and four Powerball $50,000 prizes, one of which was sold in International Falls.
There are also several large unclaimed scratch-off prizes, including 3 $500,000 prizes for the "$500,000 Cash Money" tickets, four $100,000 prizes for the "Frogger" scratch-off game, there are two $500,000 prizes still out in the wild for "Big Ol' Bens" and "Money Multiplier" games, three $300,000 prizes for the "Mystery Box Multiplier Xword" games and lots of $100,000 prizes for a handful of games.
