Mystic Lake Amphitheater Reveals Setting The Stage Opening Night

As we've been seeing the lineup for Mystic Lake Amphitheater's first-ever season continue to grow, a question I've been wondering is when the venue will open, and who the first-ever act will be.

Up until this week, the first show on the schedule for Minnesota's new outdoor venue was MGK on Monday, June 22. Nothing against him, but I was figuring that wasn't the show they would open this venue with.

My theory was proven right yesterday (May 6), as the Shakopee venue revealed what is officially the first show that will ever be held at this new concert destination.

The show, being called "Setting The Stage", is a celebration of Minnesota-raised talent that will take the stage as the grand opening of Mystic Lake Amphitheater.

The night of entertainment will feature not only live music, but also comedy, on Saturday, June 20. Entertainment will get underway at 7:20 pm that night.

A portion of the proceeds for this show will also be going to the Salt Cure Restaurant Recovery Fund, which supports Minnesota's restaurant workers and businesses.

On the music side of the event, Motion City Soundtrack will headline a roster of acts that also includes Ber, Rocket Club, and student performers from School of Rock in the Twin Cities.

The comedy component is going to include laughs from Twin Cities-born "Saturday Night Live" cast member Tommy Brennan, who will be hosting the evening.

It also sounds like other entertainment may also be added to this night of entertainment, so even more Minnesota-themed fun could be in store. We'll just have to wait to see what else might be added!

Tickets for this show go on sale to the public on Friday, May 8, at 10 am via Ticketmaster, with some presale opportunities prior to that.

A new music venue in Minnesota is launching its first season with a lineup clearly designed to make a splash. Once it opens, Mystic Lake Amphitheater will be the state’s largest outdoor amphitheater, and the acts scheduled for its inaugural year span decades and genres.
