The National Football League and NFL Players Association have been testing players and personnel daily for COVID-19. As we approach the start of the season next week, they have released their results of the tests.

The testing was done for players and tier 1 and tier 2 personnel daily. They have announced the results for tests administered between the dates of August 21 and August 29th. The NFL and NFL Players Association have a joint agreement on treatment protocol for those who test positive. If a player or personnel tests positive they are immediately isolated and not permitted access of club facilities or allowed to have direct contact with others. Club medical staff will be in regular communication with those who test positive to monitor their symptoms.

In this time period 58,621 test were administered to a total of 8,739 players and team personnel. Of those, 23,279 tests were administerd to 2,747 players and 35, 342 tests were administered to 5,992 personnel.

Out of all of theses test, four new confirmed positive cases were reported among players. Six new cases were confirmed among other personnel. That makes a total of 10 new cases in this week period.

The 2020 NFL season begins next Thursday, September 10th with the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans at 7pm. You can hear that game broadcast live on The Northland Fan on 106.5 FM and 560 WEBC.
