According to BringMetheNews.com a freeze dried sardine treat for cats and dogs could be contaminated and if consumed could be fatal. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has issued this advisory for freeze-dried, uneviscerated sardines sold by OC Raw Dog of Santa Margarita, CA.

The reason for the advisory is there is a chance of getting botulism from the contaminated sardines which can be life threatening to pets and humans. Owners are advised not to feed this to their pets or even touch the product in any manner, but to dispose of it immediately.

The product was packaged in 3.2-ounce bags labeled "OC Raw Dog Freeze Dried Sardines," with all "sell by" dates affected by the bacteria. The only place listed within 50 miles of the Northland that sold these is Floodwood Farm and Feed in Floodwood, MN. For a complete list of where these were sold Click Here.
