REPORT: Timberwolves Trade Andrew Wiggins + Draft Picks For D’Angelo Russell
It is no secret the Timberwolves have been working with the Golden State Warriors to land D'Angelo Russell in Minnesota. Those extensive efforts have reportedly paid off. ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Timberwolves and Warriors have worked out a deal to bring Russell as well as Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to Minnesota, while sending Andrew Wiggins and draft picks Golden State's way.
The picks, broken down by Wojnarowski (below) in tweets include a pick in the 2021 and 2022 NBA Draft.
This deal caps off an extensive effort to bring Russell to Minnesota, which included a multi-team trade earlier this week that saw the Timberwolves send multiple players to other teams.
Russell was brought in by the Warriors prior to this season from the Nets, making this the third team for the star 23 year old in two years.
Since joining Golden State, Russell averaged 23.6 points and 6.2 assists, while shooting 43 percent from the field and 37.4 outside the three point line. He joins a Timberwolves team in a full-on rebuild, looking to structure a team around Karl-Anthony Towns and the newly-added Russell.
