Minnesota Department of Transportation Warns Residents of Latest Scam Trying To Steal Your Money

Privacy Journal reported that close to 7,123 people are scammed on a daily basis in the United States.  If you do the math, that is 2.6 million scam reports a year.

The latest scam that the Minnesota Department of Transportation is warning us about is one that has been appearing on a lot of our phones throughout the United States.  I know several individuals who have fallen for this too, clicked on the link, and sent money.  Unfortunately, they are now targeting Minnesotans specifically.

⚠️ Scammers often take advantage of busy travel times. If you have spring break plans, stay alert! Beware of fake messages pretending to be from Minnesota E-ZPass or any other tolling agency, claiming you owe money and asking you to follow a payment link. This is a scam! Minnesota E-ZPass will never text or email you asking for personal or sensitive information. For your security, we do not accept credit card numbers by mail, email, chat, or voicemail. If you receive a message like this, do not respond. - Minnesota Department of Transportation
