Spice Girls to Perform at Olympics Closing Ceremony on August 12
Good news for Spice Girls fans. After turning down a performance at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee earlier this year, the ladies will reunite for a performance at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics Summer Games on Aug. 12. They’re doing it for their country!
Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice and long considered the biggest holdout to a full scale reunion, confirmed the performance in a chat with RTE Radio (quotes via The Daily Mail.)
“I’m so respectful of my past and I love the other girls,” Beckham gushed about her groupmates. “We have some fantastic fans. Who knows, maybe some day we’ll do something else with the Spice Girls. I would love nothing more.” See, there is some hope, Spice Girls fanatics!
While Posh loves her girls and the idea of performing with them again, she did seem to dismiss a comeback tour, saying, “I don’t know about a comeback tour, but I loved being back with the girls. There was a lot of fun, we did so much together and we’ll see. If they’re up for something then I certainly am. We are so proud to be English and we are very excited about the Olympics.”
The Spice Girls reunited earlier this summer to promote the upcoming West End musical based on their frothy tunes. They last took the stage together in 2008.
One thing is for sure. We can’t wait to see how many patriotic couture outfits the Girls will wear when performing at the closing ceremony.
