Barstool Sports is a digital media company that produces content focused on sports and pop-culture, according to Wikipedia and was initially founded back in 2003 by Dave Portnoy. It has blossomed into a multi media company with syndicated radio shows, podcasts, blogs, videos and a massive web presence. Portnoy himself has become somewhat of a celebrity and is known as someone who definitely speaks his mind as seen in his "Pizza Reviews" which happen to be my favorite segment Portnoy does.

As much as he comes off like some tough guy from Boston he has shown his softer side with establishing "The Barstool Fund". With over $39 million dollars raised so far he uses the funds to help out local businesses throughout the country who were all negatively affected by the pandemic.. As of right now 391 businesses have been given funds to help get them back on their feet and secure  employees.

Out of those 391 businesses I am ecstatic to see that The Duluth Flame is one of the latest small businesses to be chosen to receive a " Barstool Grant!" The Duluth Flame was the very first gay bar and nightclub in Duluth and has been part of the community since 2012. Like many other businesses' that closed during the pandemic and then was open for a limited amount  of time with restrictions it has been a tough year.

Manager Nicole Barclay said to FOX21:

It feels like an extra celebration being able to celebrate keeping our doors open and being able to afford to do what we love to do especially during pride month. There was a lot of skepticism for a while that the nightlife wouldn’t return and that it wouldn’t be able to come back at least not the way it was Ba. Y’know it might look a little bit  different at first but it’s coming back and people are excited for it.

The Duluth Flame prides itself on being a bar for everyone that is a fun and safe environment. With pool, darts, massive bar area and good size dance floor with a D.J. it is the place to be in Duluth to dance the night away and have a good time. Congratulations again on being selected, and we all look forward to more fun times ahead!
