WATCH: Moment Of Minnesota State Fair Shooting On Camera
A shooting took place at the Minnesota State Fair over the weekend. Video footage of the shooting was caught on a livestream of the Fair.
The Minnesota State Fair kicked off Thursday August, 25th, 2022 with some big numbers. There were 121,478 people went to opening day of the fair, According to their numbers. That's almost double the numbers that they had last year for the opening day. By the way, the opening attendance record is about 133,000 people.
The Great Minnesota Get Together also had to shut down last Saturday due to flash flooding. While enjoying food, rides, and music, Fair goers had to run for cover while the streets quickly became covered in water.
This past Saturday (September 3rd, 2022), officers responded to a gunshot shortly after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Carnes Avenue and Liggett Street at the fairgrounds, according to KSTP. The State Fair tweeted out that they closed the Fairgrounds down around 10:20 pm due to disturbances in the area of the Midway.
The State Fair also updated their website the following morning at 11 am and stated:
Shortly after 9 p.m. disturbances including fights and large groups of youth running through the Midway area was witnessed by officers. At that time, mutual aid was requested from other law enforcement agencies who responded immediately.
