Walking through Walmart in Superior yesterday, I noticed a new item that immediately caught my attention as something we need to try during the Morning Brew and see how they taste.

Cup Noodles brand ramen noodles has released a limited edition flavor called Breakfast, artificially flavored as maple syrup pancakes, sausage, and egg ramen noodles in sauce, I'll be honest, it sounds terrible, but for the sake of entertainment I bought two cups for Nick and I to try live during the morning show.

The anticipation of trying the breakfast ramen kept me tossing and turning all night, what would they taste like? Would it even remotely taste like a pancake breakfast with sausage and eggs? Would I immediately spit them out and gag? What if they're good?

Finally, the time came in the show to cook and eat the breakfast flavored ramen, shaking the cup, you can hear nuggets of something rolling around in there, could it be freeze-dried sausage and eggs?

Peeling back the top of the cup, the smell of ramen and maple syrup fills the air, and looking down in the cup, you can see the noodles, seasoning, and yep, there are little freeze-dried sausage and eggs nuggets in the cup.

After filling the cup to the line with water and nuking for 4-minutes, the noodles were ready for the taste test. Like any ramen that just comes out of the microwave, these things were lava hot, I'm pretty sure I burned my tongue in the process eating them.

My initial reaction was that they weren't as bad as I thought they would be, but after a few more scalding hot bites, I realized that they weren't good or bad, they were just ramen with a slight maple taste. I managed to finish all the noodles, but I couldn't bring myself to drink the remaining juice at the bottom of the cup.

In the end, the noodles didn't have much flavor, the sausage and egg nuggets didn't have any flavor that I could taste, and I would not buy the breakfast ramen again. I'll stick with my chicken flavored ramen. The breakfast ramen is a Walmart exclusive, they also have an Everything Bagel flavor availabe.
