The Grandstand Gets Weird: The First Act Announced for the 2026 Minnesota State Fair
The Minnesota State Fair is just under 10 months away. While we have a whole frozen winter to suffer through first, organizers are already planning for the 2026 fair. The first concert announcement is officially out, and it is definitely a weird one.
Each year, the Minnesota State Fair puts together a lineup of acts for the Grandstand that covers many genres. Generally, there is a show for everybody sometime during the 12-day event, but this specific artist defies standard categorization.

A Legend Returns to the MN State Fair
This first act of the 2026 fair does not really fall into a single genre. He basically created his own category and has dominated it since his first hit "My Bologna" in 1979. That track was a parody of The Knack's "My Sharona," and it launched a massive career. Of course, I am talking about the legendary "Weird Al" Yankovic.

"Weird Al" will bring his popular "Bigger & Weirder Tour" to the Great Minnesota Get-Together on Friday, August 28. Tickets for the show go on sale starting November 21 at 10 AM. Prices range from $54 to $89.25 for reserved seats, and Party Deck tickets are priced between $74 and $87.75. It promises to be a night of high energy and nostalgia that fits perfectly with the fun atmosphere of the fairgrounds.
What to Expect from the Tour in MN
The tour kicked off last year and spanned 75 shows in 67 cities between June and September. It included two stops in Minnesota at the Treasure Island Amphitheater and The Ledge Amphitheater near St. Cloud. The tour features "Weird Al" with his long-time band in a full, elaborate show.Fans can expect a multimedia experience on a huge video wall, multiple costume changes, and all the hits that made him the pop culture icon he is today. Whether you love "White & Nerdy" or "Amish Paradise," this show covers the classics.
If you cannot wait until late August to get your fix of polka and parody, there isgood news for Northland residents. The tour will also make another Minnesota stop earlier in the year. Weird Al is scheduled to perform at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth on June 26. This gives fans in the northern part of the state a chance to see the spectacle right on the shores of Lake Superior before he heads south to St. Paul later in the summer.
