The SS William A. Irvin, weather permitting, will be moved back to its home slip in Minnesota today.

The City of Duluth says that the Blue Bridge next to the DECC "was pinned upward this morning because of the Irvin move, and will be closed to pedestrians until sometime
tomorrow."

The east side of Harbor Drive is closed to the public during the move. Anyone interested in watching or taking photos of the move should do so in the Canal Park area.

Here is the tentative schedule of the move:

  • 2 PM - Crews will board the ship and prepare for the move
  • 3 PM - Press Conference
  • 4 PM - Approximate departure from Fraser Shipyards

The Irvin was moved from its slip next to the DECC to Fraser Shipyards in Superior last September and was scheduled to return in June, but delays have forced the move to today.
