While interviewing the daughter of the deceased woman, she admitted that her mom died a month earlier, but she failed to report the death because she was waiting for “God to resurrect her.”

Attempts to Mask the Truth

Police also found items around the home like Febreze, candles, and Glade plug-ins that they say were used to mask the smell of the dead body.

The body was discovered only after the home’s owner and ex-husband of the accused woman noticed a foul odor. He lived in the basement of the home and mentioned to authorities that he hadn’t seen the dead woman for weeks.

Autopsy Reveals Little, Decomposition Tells More

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office did an autopsy but was unable to find the cause of death. They noted that the woman had not been taking her prescribed medications.

Due to the level of decomposition, authorities estimate that the woman had been dead for between one and two months.
