The amount of unclaimed money being held by the State of Minnesota has reached a record $711.5 million and that means 1 in 20 Minnesotans have more than $100 in unclaimed property.

Unclaimed is property is where people lose financial property through a change of address, a death in the family or sometimes they just forget. The Commerce Department’s Unclaimed Property Unit is responsible for holding unclaimed property until the rightful owner or heir is found.

If you are unsure about having unclaimed property, you can always search your name at missingmoney.com, which is authorized by the state to list owners of unclaimed property.

You can see the video below from Fox 9 Minnesota and let me know what you think in the comments below. There are people from Duluth on the list as well, because my mom is on it (I hope she shares her unclaimed money with me).
