Expect to see a lot of bike patrol during Grandma's Marathon this year.

According to a press release put out by the City of Duluth, there will be an increase in bike patrol, thanks to a partnership between the Duluth Police Department and the Duluth Fire Department.

The city says that bike patrol is an important part of making sure everything runs smoothly and everyone is safe, thanks to the thousands that come to the area for the race.

Bike patrol also makes things a little bit easier, as the city says the bikes "make officers more accessible to individuals out in the community" as they can move through heavy crowds more easily.

If you are planning on heading to the area to watch the race or take part in the festivities, make sure you read up on all the different traffic advisories so you can get to and from the event smoothly.

Townsquare Media Duluth will also be broadcasting the race live. You can find out how to listen here.
