Earlier this month the Cloquet Police Department started investigating a marijuana distribution operation in the area that was bringing large amounts of weed into the community.

On Sunday they conducted a traffic stop with assistance from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office in which they used a K9 unit to do a "free-air sniff" of the vehicle, the dog alerted them to the sent of a "controlled substance emitting from the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, officers found approximately ten pounds of suspected marijuana."

3 adults were taken into custody and a search warrant was executed at a residence in the City of Cloquet where an additional 5 pounds of pot was seized.

The marijuana recovered is worth about $50,000. Zachary Daniel Mullen, a 27-year-old male, was arraigned in Carlton County Court for 5th Degree felony possession of marijuana.
