The University of Wisconsin Superior has announced in a press release that they will be once again hosting a free COVID-19 testing site on campus. The testing site was open for most of the fall and into the winter at the UW-Superior Marcovich Wellness Center in the Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium. The testing will be available again starting Monday, March 15.

Monday- Friday people can register for a COVID-19 test between the hours of 2-6pm. The tests are free and available to anyone 5 years of age or older. UWS says they are pleased to offer this temporary testing site as a service to the greater community in response to rising case numbers in the state and surrounding areas.

The test administered will be the Abbott BinaxNOW antigen tests that provide results in 15 minutes. The United States government purchased the diagnostics tests in August and has distributed 150 million of them. The test is self administered by using a light nasal swab under medical supervision.

PCR tests will be then used if a rapid test is positive to confirm the diagnosis. This is in line with the Health Services protocol.

You do not need to have symptoms to get a test. You also do not need to have been in close contact with a confirmed case. Anyone can get the test if they register. You can register online, and that is also where you will obtain your test result.

The testing site is located at 1810 Catlin Avenue in Superior. You are asked to park on Mortorelli Drive or Parking Lot 4 and enter through the gym doors.
