The University of Wisconsin-Superior has been on a roll lately. Earlier this year, the school opened a brand-new $7 million stadium that gave student-athletes and fans a fresh home field advantage. Now, the momentum continues with another major investment that leaders are already calling a “game-changer.”

UWS is building a brand-new state-of-the-art throws facility, dedicated to track and field events such as hammer throw, discus, shot put, and javelin. For those unfamiliar, these specialized areas provide the space and safety needed for some of the most powerful and technical events in the sport.

This facility will replace the current setup near Wessman Arena, offering athletes a safer, more advanced environment while giving UWS the ability to host high-level meets in the future. Head Coach Glen Drexler says, "Not many institutions have the ability to build a top-tier throwing facility like this – it's a game-changer for our program."

What’s Next for UWS

Even bigger projects are on the horizon. The university has announced plans for a $17.5 million baseball and softball complex, set to open by the 2027-28 academic year along 28th Street in Superior.
