If you didn't catch the instant classic in theaters earlier this year, it looks like you have another shot at it! Top Gun: Maverick was a massive smash of a movie and until now, has been out of movie theaters for awhile.

Top Gun: Maverick was the sequel the classic film from 1986. I just recently watched it for the first time a few years ago, which I am ashamed to say. I am even more ashamed to say that I did not watch it in theaters this year when the sequel dropped, despite rave reviews.

I have been to the movie theaters many times but more so for scary movies or romantic comedies but never this action film. I went and saw a scary movie called Smile in October and it was pretty good! I also saw the latest Halloween movie and a few others.

Maybe it was the fact that it was summer, which gets so busy or maybe it is because it was so nice outside and summer is so short in the Twin Ports that I told myself I would see it on a rainy day. I missed my chance but now I also have a chance for redemption!

I read recently that Top Gun: Maverick would be returning for a limited time to certain theaters. I have heard from many people that saw the film that it needs to be seen in theaters in order to get the full effect of the movie.

I did some research and as of now, the movie is playing at the Lakes 10 Cinema in Hermantown! It is not playing at the Marcus Theaters Duluth location at the time of writing. The film hit theaters again on Friday (December 2nd) and will continue only through Thursday the 15th. You better see it while you can!

Here are the dates and times you can catch the movie at Lakes 10 Cinema. You can get more details on their website and buy tickets in advance there as well. It should be noted that the film is not on the schedule for everyday of the week so double check the dates if you want to see it again.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 6th at 2:45 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Friday, December 9th at 2:45 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 10th at 2:45 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 11th at 2:45 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Monday, December 12th at 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 13th at 2:45 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 14th at 6 p.m.

Lakes 10 Cinema is located at 4351 Stebner Road. I looked at other theaters in the greater Northland area and found that the only other theater that will be screening this film is the Hibbing 8 Cinema. Screenings will continue through December 14th at various times each day, which are posted on the cinema's website.

My search included the Zeitgeist Zinema in downtown Duluth and the Premiere Theatre in Cloquet. I also looked at other cinemas in Moose Lake, Ely and surrounding areas. These are the only two I could find that had the film but it is always good to double check a theater in your area in case it was added after the fact.

If you do happen to miss it, you can catch it on Paramount+ on Thursday, December 22nd. Like I said though, many people say you have to see the film in theaters to truly enjoy it so make it out if you can. It was a record-breaking film in so many ways so in reality, you really are just watching a piece of history. Ha!
